Compleat Redneck

Commentary from the boondocks. If it makes any sense, it is just by chance.

It has been a busy week here at the old BBQ Emporium. We have had lots of people showing up for their Christmas parties and have been working pretty hard. Cletus has really had to work getting in the wood for the pit and is about worn out. Lately he has taken to watching the business news on TV and yesterday he heard that billions of dollars were lost in the stockmarket. Cletus is trying to figure out where it went. He says he figures it is sort of like that missing cents thing that Richard Pryor figured out in one of the Superman movies and the money is just setting there for the taking. Bubba told him to quit talking like a damn fool. If there was any money for the taking, either the bankers or the government would have already taken it. Cletus is not convinced. He says that he knows a couple of the local bankers and a few government employees and doesn't think that they would be up to the task of taking the money if it were to walk up and sit down in front of them.

Of course, that started the old "if you are so smart, why ain't you rich" argument and I finally had to throw the both of them out. Cletus said he had been thrown out of much better establishments and anyway he needed to be by himself while he worked on the missing stockmarket money problem.

He did leave me wondering about where the money goes when "billions" are lost though.
